Very recently, there was a rumor that claimed that WWE still had huge plans for AJ Styles despite booking him to lose quite a few matches over the past couple of months.
That become crystal clear after Raw when he turned heel, reformed The Club, and laid out John Cena during his return segment. Cena vs. Styles is now confirmed for “Money in the Bank” and it’s only the beginning for him.
According to a recent report from DailyWrestlingNews.com, Vince McMahon was very impressed by AJ Styles after the feud with Roman Reigns for the WWE title and his performance at “Extreme Rules” was highly praised.
It’s being said that Vince realized that AJ is a star that he can rely on for big matches and is impressed by how he carries himself in the ring for a man his size.
The backstage talk right now is that Vince wants to put a WWE Championship on him before the end of the year. With the brand split coming up, it’s still believed that there will a second world title established for SmackDown. That could end up being the answer for AJ Styles and SmackDown.
