Back at Wrestlemania 32, The Rock returned to WWE for what appeared to be a promo appearance for the Dallas crowd to reveal the attendance record and cut a promo against The Wyatt Family.
However, the promo turned into a match with Erick Rowan. Although there was only a Rock Bottom and the match lasted for three seconds; it still counts in the WWE history books as an official match.
It’s been assumed since Wrestlemania 29, that The Rock’s final match against John Cena would be the final of his career, but the match with Rowan proves that wrong.
Even though the latter was just for fun, there is a lot of speculation about The Rock wrestling another big match at Wrestlemania 33 in Orlando next year.
Recently, WWE did a feature on the biggest free agents left in WWE, which included The Rock and revealed that his in-ring career is “far from over.”
There are going to be many WWE Superstars willing to throw their name into the hat to face The People’s Champion at Wrestlemania, but there are only a few that could make it a reality.
