There was a lot of hype surrounding the debut of Andrade “Cien” Alamas in NXT earlier this year. The former “La Somba” for CMLL and other promotions seemed to be the next big thing for NXT.

Apparently, most NXT officials were very high on him and the work he was going to do in NXT, but it hasn’t worked out as planned and his character is very bland despite solid in-ring work.

At NXT Takeover: The End, Almas debuted and got a victory over Tye Dillinger, who was unanimously the favorite in the match. At NXT Takeover: Brooklyn II, he put over Booby Roode during his big match debut.

In a little over two months, Almas went from being the next big thing in NXT to putting over Bobby Roode, who is quickly on his way to being the next big thing for NXT.

According to a report from DailyDDT.com, NXT officials may be giving up on Almas, and some feel that his opportunity to suceed has passed him by already.

The problem is that Almas getting a strong reaction than Dillinger or Roode seems very unlikely, especially when “Cien” doesn’t offer a strong connection with the NXT audience.

Do you think its time to hit the reset button on Andrade “Cien” Almas?
