Neville suffered a broken ankle shortly before Wrestlemania 32 during a match with Chris Jericho. It was a very unfortunate injury that cost him a spot in the Intercontinental Championship Ladder match.
The timetable for his return was initially two to three months. That will bring him back to WWE programming by late May or June at some point. It’s very likely that we’ll see “The Man That Gravity Forgot” by the “Money in the Bank” PPV next month.
According to a report from RingsideNews.com, the plan before he got injured was to enter the IC title hunt after Wrestlemania. The return of Cesaro could have filled the void left by Neville when he got injured.
It’s not being reported that he’s still likely to enter the IC title hunt when he returns over the next several weeks, but we won’t know who the Intercontinental Champion will be until after “Extreme Rules” later tonight.
Neville has been very good on the main roster, but he hasn’t had many opportunities for big match situation to prove that he can handle the pressure. The IC title hunt isn’t the only option for him.
Frankly, Kalisto vs. Neville is a much more interesting dynamic if the former can retain the United States title later tonight against Rusev.
The point is that Neville is a very good performer, and he’s definitely over is the WWE Universe. He just needs some big matches and a few big win to prove his value to reach the next level than just being a good hand.
Do you think Neville has the potential to be a strong midcard champion?
