At “Battleground,” Roman Reigns will challenge Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins for the WWE Championship in a triple threat match.
Due to his thirty day suspension for violating the WWE Wellness Policy, you won’t be seeing him on WWE programming until then. However, Reigns will be wrestling for WWE before “Battleground.”
According to a report from RingSideNews.com, Roman Reigns will be wrestling at a WWE live event at the Wildwoods Convention Center in Wildwood, New Jersey the night before “Battleground.”
As of this writing, there isn’t a confirmation about who he will be wrestling. The point of the match is most likely to give Reigns a “tune-up” before his triple threat match the next night.
The assumption based on the rumors is that Reigns will not win back the WWE title at “Battleground” because there is a long-term “redemption” storyline being planned for him by WWE officials and Vince McMahon.
Giving Reigns back the title so quickly would send the wrong message to the WWE locker room after Roman was suspended, but also hurt Ambrose if he can only hold the title for a month.
The bigger question is what does a redemption storyline look like for Roman Reigns? Who is he going to feud with and for how long will he be struggling to become a WWE World Champion after the brand split?
Do you think a “redemption” storyline will make the WWE Universe more sympathetic to Roman Reigns?
