The WWE Universe was hopeful that The Lunatic Fringe could make his return to WWE television before Summerslam, but it seems Dean Ambrose will miss that date. Ambrose has been training at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando for weeks now, so Dean’s return to the ring is getting closer by the day and WWE already has some plans for him.
According to a report from Wrestling Observer Live, WWE officials are planning to pick up right where Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins left off back in December. The tag team of Ambrose and Rollins is expected to continue, which leaves the door wide open for The Lunatic Fringe’s long rumored heel turn to take place before the end of the year.

On paper, WWE officials may wait to pull the trigger on the heel turn for Ambrose until the Royal Rumble. It’s a bigger stage and that angle can last through WrestleMania 35 in New York. More than likely, the WWE Universe will complain about how Ambrose’s booking isn’t strong enough and too much time has been wasted for a heel turn. The thing is that a lot of people are going to be expecting the heel turn, so it makes sense to wait and let WWE fans welcome him back as a babyface. The only way it would make sense is for Ambrose to turn immediately upon his return, especially if it happens right after Summerslam.
