“Money in the Bank” was a massive turnaround for Dean Ambrose. For the first few months of 2016, Ambrose was red-hot and was knocking on the door of becoming the WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

Ultimately, that got him a match with Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania. Unfortunately, that cooled his momentum a little until a few weeks ago when he won and cashed in “Money in the Bank” to become the WWE Champion.

However, there is some interesting news about what WWE officials were thinking about Ambrose at the time. Do you remember a few months ago, there was a report that one popular superstar was “phoning it in,” partying too much, and it was starting to impact his in-ring work? As it turns out, the name in question was Ambrose.

According to a report from DailyWrestlingNews.com, there was a lot of negative backstage talk from WWE officials about Ambrose over the past few months.

Before he won the WWE title, they felt that Ambrose was “phoning it in” and there was a lot of criticism about his feud with Chris Jericho.

Though the matches weren’t bad by any means, they weren’t what WWE officials were expecting from the two men. All of this news makes his WWE title win a few weeks ago a very interesting choice.

Do you think the feud between Dean Ambrose and Chris Jericho was bad?
