Despite over fifteen years of experience in TNA, New Japan Pro Wrestling, and Ring of Honor, WWE has treated him a like a rookie thus far because he hasn’t been in the “big leagues”.
That’s understandable, but someone like Styles could have done anything in WWE, including challenging for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Since WWE has obvious long-term plans for Roman Reigns to hold the WWE title for much of 2016, they may miss out on a window by forcing Styles into the midcard.
On a recent poll on WWE.com, the WWE Universe is being asked if AJ Styles is a future WWE Champion? Only four percent of people believe that Triple H will hold the title until Hell freezes over. Ten percent are not sure and need to see more matches, but an overpowering Eighty-six percent believe that he will be someday.
WWE has a history of not putting the “richest prize in the game” on a former top talent of a rival promotion. The company is no doubt aware that they have one of the best wrestlers in the world, but it’s questionable to believe that The Phenomenal One will be WWE Champion in 2016. Maybe, someday, but it remains to be seen.
