Believe it or not, Naomi has actually been in WWE since 2009. She didn’t debut on the main roster until 2012, but she was in FCW and NXT before becoming one-half of The Funkadactyls.

Over the past four years, she’s built up a reputation in the Women’s division as one of the most underrated female wrestlers on the roster. She’s been a face and a heel, but she’s never gotten a big push in WWE.

Let’s just get something out of the way. Naomi being African-American has nothing to do with it. That’s a dumb argument to make, and it is also unnecessary,

Simply put, Naomi has had to take a backseat as AJ Lee, Nikki Bella, and now Charlotte all have long reigns with the only prize in WWE’s Women’s division, which leaves women like Naomi without accolades.

This is a perfect example of why WWE should institute a midcard title for the division. The women of WWE are going to be on both Raw and SmackDown. That’s plenty of television time for one more title in the division.

If we’re being honest, Naomi isn’t that strong of a wrestler. A great athlete and she is experienced, but if we’re comparing her to Charlotte, Sasha Banks, Natalya, and Becky Lynch. She’s not going to be able to compete.

Asuka, Bayley, Nia Jax, and others aren’t going to help her chances of becoming the Women’s Champion. The truth is her time may have already passed her by, but a midcard title or a real shot from WWE could make a huge difference in her career.

Naomi does deserve something to show for her hard work and near decade in WWE. I’ve never heard a single incident where she’s gotten in trouble backstage. Why isn’t WWE giving her a fair chance?

Do you think WWE should create a Women’s Intercontinental Championship after the brand split?
