The Shield, Evolution and The New Day are excellent examples of all members benefiting from the group and bringing something to it. On the other side, as great as the Straight Edge Society was for CM Punk. It didn’t benefit anyone else in that group in the long term. The same thing for Orton’s Legacy group.
Sometimes a stable can go wrong like the NWO. An epic stable with Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash and Scott Hall, but too many members watered down the group, and the original magic disappeared and was never recaptured.
Ultimately, the group should utilize all its members for one purpose or another to be considered a real success. I strongly feel that WWE’s newest stable called, “The League of Nations” is going to be a great success.

On paper, WWE already has a great heel stable in The Wyatt Family. It’s a lot more creative and has a lot more mystique and character to it. However, what makes the League of Nations a good idea isn’t originality, aura, or character. The League of Nations is the perfect assemble to give all four men greater purpose in WWE.
The League of Nations is made of Alberto Del Rio, King Barrett, Rusev, and Sheamus. WWE’s reasoning for forming them is because they’re all foreigners to American soil. That’s a little lame, but there have been worse reasons in wrestling. The point is that
The point is the group has the WWE Championship, the United States title, and the King of the Ring. That’s a lot of prestige to bring to the four men that weren’t doing much as individuals but thrive as a unit. If WWE books this group properly, the League of Nations could be the most powerful group in WWE.

It’s already been established that Sheamus is the leader and the WWE Champion. Rusev is his second in command and the muscle of the group. That’s a good combination, and it works.
In my mind, King Barrett is the mouthpiece. He’s already played that role with the Nexus very well, and he’s the best talker in that group without question. Barrett was the leader of the Nexus. He can’t come off like the third wheel. Also, Sheamus shouldn’t be talking as much as he is right now. That’s Barrett’s purpose in the group.
Alberto Del Rio was stuck in the odd partnership with Zeb Colter and the “MexAmerican” gimmick. That didn’t work because it didn’t make sense, but Del Rio wanting to prove he’s better than the United States by only associating with foreigners and still holding the US title. That’s a good heel run for him in the group.
Thus far, all four guys have a purpose and something to bring to the group. Not to mention, Sheamus won the WWE Championship and formed an army of talented guys around him. That’s good heat for all involved.
That’s really good heat for four guys that needed something to push their heel personas to the next level. They’ve all tried it by themselves and found some success, but there’s always been something missing. As one unit fighting with each other, they should be unstoppable.
Unfortunately, WWE has given Roman Reigns and his friends multiple wins over the group already. That’s a brilliant way to put a giant wall in front of a heel stable and make them look irrelevant.
If WWE wants to book the League of Nations properly, they should never lose a tag team match clean. If they’re going to lose the match fairly, they throw out the rule book, cheat, or find a way to escape. That’s just heel work 101.
The League of Nations has the benefit of having four stars that each have their own thing and can separate from the group and fight their own battles. However, when the time is right for them to make a stand, they can do it as one. That is what made Evolution so good long-term. Everyone had an identity outside of the group.
Ultimately, what is going to make or break the group is how the booking utilizes all the members because this is a golden opportunity to bring new elements to each character to let Barrett get to the main event level, or allow Rusev to return to the monster he’s supposed to be.
With Sheamus at the helm, WWE is putting the WWE Championship on full display and putting new faces around it. There is a lot that can be done with the group and if the stable works, could be the boost many superstars need to succeed and finally live up to their potential.
They just need to be booked strongly, win consistently, and always have a target. This group could be a great thing, but it needs more attention than it’s being given in the beginning. It should be taken more seriously.
