Back in August of last year, NXT Takeover: Brooklyn stole Summerslam weekend right away from the main roster.
Now, Wrestlemania weekend begins tomorrow night with NXT Takeover: Dallas. Will NXT steal the biggest weekend of the year away from the main roster again?
That will be the question for a few days from now, but the Takeover: Dallas card is beyond stacked. Austin Aries will debut against Baron Corbin. Nakamura vs. Zayn will not only see the debut of the “King of Strong Style”, but it will also serve as the NXT swan song of Sami Zayn.
Nakamura vs. Zayn will not only see the debut of the “King of Strong Style”, but it will also serve as the NXT swan song of Sami Zayn.
If that wasn’t enough, all three NXT titles will be defended. What’s interesting is that the time is perfect for NXT to change drastically and all three titles should change hands tomorrow night.
The Revival will defend the NXT Tag Team Championship against American Alpha. This is a situation where Gable and Jordan have been red-hot for so long that it would hurt them not to win the championship together, and it’ll be the best feel good moment of the entire show.
Asuka vs. Bayley is the most unpredictable match on the entire card because either woman can win that match and it would make total sense.
The reason Asuka should get the win is not because Bayley is ready for the main roster, it’s because it’s the perfect scenario for Bayley to lose and build another superstar in what will most likely be the match of the night.
Finn Balor vs. Samoa Joe for the NXT Championship is about a lot more than the title. Not only is Balor ready for the main roster, not only are Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows rumored to be forming “The Balor Club”, but Joe needs the win more than Balor.
It’s time for Samoa Joe to win gold in NXT and it will hurt his character dramatically more than it would be for Balor to lose it.
On paper, all titles changing hands may make the show too big, but that’s what NXT is about right now. The brand is ready for change, and it’s going to have major implications on NXT and especially on WWE with post-Wrestlemania call-ups.
Do you think NXT Takeover: Dallas will be a better show than Wrestlemania?
