Luke Harper caught a rough break tearing his ACL just before Wrestlemania, but there was little doubt that he’d bounce back. The thing is we were expecting it to be on Raw.
Instead, Harper returned to SmackDown to interfere in Bray Wyatt’s match with Randy Orton, which got the former the victory at “No Mercy.” On paper, this is a good thing, but it could be something that will hurt Bray Wyatt in the long run is WWE isn’t careful.
Harper being back is great, but his return took away the chance for Wyatt to get a clean win over Orton. It doesn’t really matter that much because Bray gets most of his wins like that, but he hasn’t had a meaningful clean victory in a long time.
In my opinion, he really needs one and his match with Orton was a perfect situation for him to get one. Harper being back opens up a lot of possibilities for Harper and Wyatt on SmackDown. WWE just needs to make sure to give these guys some clean wins.
Personally, I think Harper vs. Wyatt would be an amazing feud that would be weird and unique with a great story. However, WWE could book them to face Heath Slater and Rhyno easily, continue the feud with Orton, or figure something else out.
The point is that Luke Harper being Bray Wyatt’s sidekick again doesn’t do either of them any favors. WWE has to do something new with them after “No Mercy.” Harper is back in the fold and Wyatt defeated Orton. Let’s see what happens next?
