Ever since the WWE Draft and brand split, Dolph Ziggler has been featured in good title matches over the past several months. The big problem was that he was booked to lose every time, which showed that WWE thought he was good, but not good enough.

Despite the rumor mill essentially guaranteeing “No Mercy” would be the end for Dolph Ziggler’ WWE career, he defeated The Miz to become the Intercontinental Champion.

Ziggler has finally won a big match and became the IC Champion, but now the trick is for him to live up to the potential of the booking. He’s a very good performer, but he’s consistently been given titles and opportunities in his career that haven’t paid off.

This could very well be his last chance to enter the next level, especially on SmackDown where the midcard is still wide open. His feud with Miz will continue. After that, he’s going to have to consistently look strong as a champion if he keeps the title into 2017.

That means we’re going to have to get the absolute best of Dolph Ziggler and WWE will have to give him strong booking as a top face on SmackDown.

WWE just ended The Miz’s IC title reign, which was fantastic. If booking ruins Ziggler’s reign too, then WWE ruined two potentially great things at the same time.

Are you happy Dolph Ziggler is the new IC Champion?
