Last week, Rusev made an unexpected return to WWE on Monday Night Raw after attacking Roman Reigns during the opening segment. Reigns vs. Rusev was also the main event last week, but no one mentioned his engagement to Lana, or when the Ravishing Russian wouldn’t return to WWE.
In fact, the last we heard of Lana, it was said that she had massive heat with WWE after the mess involving her engagement with Rusev going public and her behavior on Twitter was getting her a lot of heat backstage within WWE. No one was sure when Lana would return to WWE if she would at all.
During tonight’s MizTV segment, Rusev came out and introduced Lana. Their engagement was fully embraced within the show, and those characters are back together on television. Ryback interrupted their segment and Rusev would lose by count-out to Ryback while trying to help Lana on the outside.
Lana and Rusev are much better together on television than they were apart. Even when those characters were apart, the entire purpose of their characters was trying to make each other jealous.
The people behind the characters are clearly in love and have good chemistry together on screen. It just makes more sense to forget the last six months of their characters history and put them back together on television.
Lana humbles Rusev and makes his character multi-dimensional. Rusev gives Lana purpose of character and gives her something to say. Those two need each other, and it’ll be fun to see how they develop on their second run together.
