Most likely, John Cena’s hiatus from WWE television isn’t affecting WWE’s plans for Lesnar. WWE has reportedly been aware of Cena’s absence this fall since the summer.
F4WOnline.com is reporting that it’s Randy Orton’s injury has thrown WWE a curve ball on their creative plans surrounding Brock Lesnar. WWE’s plans for the fall involved Randy Orton being tapped to be WWE’s top babyface in John Cena’s absence with Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose and Kane rounding out the upper echelon of faces for the WWE roster.
Lesnar vs. Orton has been discussed ever since Brock Lesnar first returned to WWE in 2012, and even more so when Lesnar signed a new three-year deal earlier this year.
Part of that new contract included Lesnar’s willingness to work more WWE dates. WWE has the option to bring Brock Lesnar back sooner rather than later if the powers that be deem it a necessity, but there aren’t any concrete plans on who WWE plans for Lesnar to work with when he returns.
