Former NFL Player Training to Become Pro Wrestler With Booker T

Booker T has some friends in the NFL apparently. In the 2013 NFL Draft, the Houston Texans selected Brennan Williams in the third round. Williams spent three years playing football in the NFL with the Texans, Jacksonville Jaguars, and the New England Patriots. Last week, the Patriots waived Williams from their practice squad because of injury concerns from the organization.

Rather than seek out a fourth team, Brennan Williams has decided to pursue a passion so dear to his heart: pro wrestling. In fact, he’s had Booker T’s phone number for a few years. Now that his football career was winded down, Williams finally gave WWE Hall of Famer Booker T a call.

Brennan Williams is a huge fan of professional wrestling. He’s just like many of us that go through wrestling forums and dirt sheets complaining about John Cena. It seems it was only a matter of time until he showed interest in entering the industry.

There are multiple sources, including TMZ that are reporting that Williams has given up his NFL career to begin training to become a pro wrestler. There is no confirmation on that phone call between Booker T and Williams, but when TMZ caught up to Booker T, he gave the following statement:

“Brennan definitely fits the profile and athletic protocol of a WWE Wrestler. He fits the build perfectly…

…Most of the time with NFL players, wrestling is a sort of last resort but Brennan was actually a fan before anything. I’m more than glad to help him out.”

The current plan for Brennan Williams is to train as much as possible before attending a tryout with WWE at the WWE Performance Center in early 2016.
