It has been an intense week for Finn Balor. On Sunday night, he became the WWE Universal Champion by defeating Seth Rollins at “Summerslam.”
Less than twenty-four hours later, he was forced to relinquish the title because of a significant shoulder injury, which needed surgery. Yesterday, he underwent that procedure, but the early word isn’t good thus far.
According to a report from DailyWrestlingNews.com, WWE’s Dr. Jeffrey Dugas commented on Balor’s operation and revealed that the injury could be much more severe than everyone originally feared:
“Finn’s injury was pretty severe, more severe than normal. A really high energy injury, it did more damage than a standard shoulder dislocation where you simply tear the labrum. The prognosis is excellent, however. We were able to fix it all and put it back where it came from. I’m anticipating him getting back at full speed.”
The timetable for his return to WWE programming was between four to six months. There are many examples of guys like Cesaro or John Cena needing less time to recover, but then there is the Hideo Itami situation.
