NXT dropped a huge curveball on its fanbase when they booked Samoa Joe to capture the NXT Championship during a live event in Lowell, Massachusetts.
No one was surprised because Joe defeated Balor. Joe has always been an amazing wrestler, but the shock came from such a big moment coming so randomly when many thought the brand was headed in a different direction.
According to Wrestlinginc.com, the rematch has been set and the next chapter of Balor vs. Joe will take place on Wednesday, June 8th from Full Sail University at NXT’s next Takeover event.
As of this writing, there isn’t a name for the Takeover, but NXT General Manager William Regal announced the match during this week’s television tapings.
The expectation is that there will be a stipulation of some kind for the match, which will be announced over the next few weeks. It’s very likely we could be seeing a ladder match this time between Balor and Joe.
There are many rumors going around about Finn Balor making his transition to WWE’s main roster and involving himself in “The Bullet Club” angle that’s going on right now.
It’s believed that Balor could make his debut as early as tonight, which would most likely make his match with Joe on June 8th his last for the promotion. If that’s the case, we’re going to see the last run of Balor, but we’ve just got to wait and see what happens tonight and over the next few weeks to know what to expect from NXT.
