Real Reason Why Brock Lesnar Squashed Braun Strowman at ‘Crown Jewel’

WWE officials weren’t planning on crowning Brock Lesnar or Braun Strowman the new WWE Universal Champion. Roman Reigns’ departure forced their hand to crown a new champion at Crown Jewel. The WWE Universe was hopeful that Strowman would have a chance to represent Raw, but Brock Lesnar recaptured the title in dominate fashion.

A lot of people are upset about WWE putting the Universal Title back on Lesnar as if his loss to Roman Reigns had never happened. Braun Strowman may or may not be ready for the responsibility, but just giving the title back to Brock is a step backward for most fans. However, the WWE Universe has a bigger problem with Brock squashing Braun.

According to Wrestling Observer Radio, the idea was protecting Strowman by having Baron Corbin sneak attack him with the championship. The impression is that Braun couldn’t get out of the box because he was cheated. WWE officials believe that angle protects him for a long term WWE Universal Title win down the line. The story WWE is trying to convey is Strowman would have defeated Lesnar if he’d been in a fair fight.

The other angle WWE wanted to tell was how it took multiple F-5s to beat Strowman. A lot of work has been put into making the finisher look strong. WWE officials believe if it took five finishers to put down Strowman, then he came out looking strong in defeat. It will be a matter of debate if the booking was right, but they got the result they wanted.

Obviously, Baron Corbin vs. Braun Strowman is the immediate plan on Raw after the events of Crown Jewel. Brock Lesnar’s next feud remains a mystery, which isn’t going to be a popular decision. For now, it seems the fans have to deal with Lesnar’s title reign.
