At “Backlash,” a new SmackDown Women’s Champion was finally crowned. Despite weeks of rumors surrounding the match, the outcome was expected, yet most welcome.
The rumors had many people believing that Nikki Bella would be the winner of the Six Pack Challenge because her accolades made it very easy for her to help establish the division.
However, it was Becky Lynch who emerged victorious and became the first SmackDown Women’s Champion in WWE history.
For the first time in her career, “The Lass Kicker” was finally given the big win and championship gold rather than being a participant in WWE history.
She is the only member of “The Four Horsewomen” not to become the NXT Women’s Champion. At Wrestlemania earlier this year, Charlotte won the triple threat match and most people wanted to know why Sasha Banks didn’t get the win. Lynch didn’t receive a lot of vocal praise until being drafted to SmackDown.
Now, WWE is going to build SmackDown’s Women’s Division around Becky Lynch as its champion, so the trick is to get Becky a challenger to begin to build the prestige of the title for SmackDown.
Do you think WWE made the right call having Becky Lynch win the title?
