AJ Styles Wins WWE World Championship at “Backlash”

Tonight, AJ Styles showed the world why he truly is phenomenal.

In the main event of “Backlash,” “The Phenomenal One” defeated Dean Ambrose to win the WWE World Championship. The finish came when Styles delivered a low blow to the “Lunatic Fringe,” following a bump that was taken by the referee. He would then hit the Styles Clash to pick up the victory and win the title.

Ambrose had held the championship since the “Money In The Bank” pay-per-view earlier this year. After successfully winning the contract, which guaranteed him a shot at the then WWE World Heavyweight Championship, Ambrose would cash in on new champion Seth Rollins at the end of the night, giving him the victory and his first world title.

Styles has made a dramatic impact since making his debut at the “Royal Rumble” in January of this year. He has constantly been at the top of the company, competing in feuds with performers such as Chris Jericho, Roman Reigns, John Cena and Dean Ambrose.
