According to PWInsider.com, while in New Orleans this week for Monday Night Raw and Smackdown, WWE held a major creative meeting to begin booking the “Royal Rumble” match and all other aspects of the PPV.
WWE has a lot on their plate when it comes to the event. It’s deeper than selecting the winner, but the match has many questions, including what number to place on superstars like Brock Lesnar.
There have been a lot of rumors about former New Japan Pro Wresting stars having a spot in the match. In fact, the original plan for AJ Styles WWE debut was a surprise spot in the Rumble.
It was revealed earlier today that Shinsuke Nakamura is going to be at the WWE Performance Center in February, but his dates with NJPW forbid him from having a spot in the Rumble match.
However, AJ Styles and Doc Gallows are definitely in negotiations. No one has been signed as far as we know, but something could be worked out on a pay per appearance basis to introduce some of these stars to the WWE audience slowly until an official deal is reached between both parties.
