Tonight in Raw’s main event, Dean Ambrose defended the WWE Championship against Seth Rollins just one day before the WWE Draft and six days before “Battleground.”
Of course, Ambrose and Rollins had a competitive match of high quality, but it was a strange booking situation to let Ambrose win or get Rollins back the WWE title. Fortunately, WWE thought of another result of the match.
The end of the match saw Rollins deliver a superplex to Ambrose, which quickly turned into the two men tangling into a double pin for the three count.
Amidst all the confusion, Raw went off the air with Seth Rollins being announced the new WWE Champion by Stephanie McMahon. No doubt that is going to confuse a lot of the WWE Universe going into tomorrow night.
After the show had ended on the USA Network, it continued on the WWE Network and the match was declared a draw after some debate and a chance to look at the replay.
The point is that the controversy is enough for both Ambrose and Rollins to claim they won the match, which will most likely set up a rematch for tomorrow night’s first live edition of SmackDown.
