However, Cena announced on Twitter last week that he was returning to Raw next week. Cena has been filming “American Grit” over the last few months, he’s got a movie out with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, “Sisters”, and now John is returning to WWE on the last Monday Night Raw of 2015.
The only question now is whether or not Cena will be the US Champion when we enter 2016. Obviously, Alberto Del Rio has something to say about that. In fact, Del Rio commented the following about John Cena’s return and next week’s match on Twitter:

It’s a smart business move to advertise John Cena’s return to Monday Night Raw given how WWE is struggling to boost ratings and heading into 2016 on a strong note makes logical sense.
However, the payoff boost of an unexpected return for the live WWE audience next week and the shot to the arm that would be for WWE television could have been a major moment to head into 2016.
Either way, the WWE Universe is ready for John Cena. He’s had a good break from WWE, and it’s had a nice break from him. He’s been missed and now we’ll see how the ratings do with him back.
