It’s a sad day of remembrance of what the wrestling world lost ten years ago. However, it’s also a day of great celebration of Eddie’s life and what he was able to accomplish in wrestling.
In his career, Latino Heat was a seven-time World Tag Team Champion in AAA, WWE, and other promotions. Guerrero was an ECW World Television Champion, WCW Cruiserweight Champion, a two-time Intercontinental and United States Champion.
At No Way Out 2004, Eddie also won the WWE Championship against Brock Lesnar. That match was the climax of Eddie’s career because it was the validation of what Eddie is now remembered as, one of the greatest wrestlers of all time. In 2006, he was given the honor of becoming a WWE Hall of Famer.
Latino Heat wasn’t perfect. He was far from perfect. His personal life was filled with addiction and challenges over the years inside and especially outside the ring. Regardless, what makes Eddie Guerrero so special in wrestling history is that he overcame many of those challenges and eventually became champion.
His charisma, wrestling ability, and connection with the fans is what the best in the business should inspire to be. Eddie Guerrero is still a shining example of what a professional wrestler should be.
They don’t have to be perfect. They have to be an artist inside the ring and a good man outside the ring. Eddie Guerrero was a great man, and he should be remembered as a shining example of how magnificent the pro wrestling industry should be at it’s best.
Take this day to remember Eddie Guerrero and your love of this industry. RIP Latino Heat
