A lthough WWE has capitalized on a lot of the former top talent from New Japan Pro Wrestling in 2016, there are others that wouldn’t sign with the company.

WWE may have been able to snag AJ Styles, Shinsuka Nakamura, and Karl Anderson away from the promotion so far, but the company tried to lure Kenny Omega away three times last year to no avail for one simple reason.

In case you’re not aware, AJ Styles was the leader of The Bullet Club in NJPW before he left the promotion. The group betrayed him and Omega was restablished as the leader of the stable.

Omega has also won the IWGP Intercontinental Champion that Nakamura was stripped of on his way of the promotion as well. There is no one in NJPW that has capitalized on the exits of those top talents as much as Omega has in the last month.

The current IWGP IC Champion trained a lot in WWE developmental, but has found his success outside of the company. Last year, WWE tried to resign him to no avail because Omega wants to work with Kota Ibushi. Enuhito posted the following on Twitter:

“Kenny Omega has revealed he got offer from WWE for 3 times last year. But he stays in NJPW because he has one thing left here. It’s Ibushi.”
