Recently, it was reported that while
AJ Styles was debuting and
Triple H was becoming the WWE World Heavyweight Champion at the “Royal Rumble”,
Dave Bautista was backstage in a meeting with Vince McMahon to discuss the possibility of him making an appearance at Wrestlemania 32 in Dallas this April.
The details of the meeting were not made to the public, but the offer was for a non-wrestling role and most likely involved some kind of Hollywood/WWE confrontation with The Rock. Batista reportedly turned it down for undisclosed reasons, but that doesn’t mean both sides have given up on him appearing at this year’s Mania.
During last week’s Smackdown tapings in Tampa, Florida, Batista was backstage again to visit friends and WWE extended another offer to him for Wrestlemania.
According to multiple sources, the rumored special guest referee role for the main event of Wrestlemania was offered to him, but Batista wasn’t interested and turned it down.
The reasons for him turning it down are that he doesn’t see the value in a one-off appearance and would much rather it be a crucial part of a storyline or an angle that leads to another run with the company.’
