It was rumored for weeks, but only a few short days after AJ Styles made his debut in the “Royal Rumble,” WWE announced the signing of Shinsuke Nakamura and the company’s plans to have him report to NXT, and make his debut at NXT Takeover: Dallas.

According to Cagesideseats.com, WWE isn’t planning for the former IWGP Intercontinental Champion to remain in NXT for very long. The rumored plan in place is for Nakamura to train at WWE’s Performance Center on the WWE style until his debut in April to find a good blend.

“The King of Strong Style” is going to work with WWE trainers to translate his skills into a style that will fit for the WWE audience and work out the finer details of his in-ring work over his time in NXT.

His first opponent in NXT will be Sami Zayn at NXT Takeover: Dallas. The reasoning for that match-up isn’t only to give Nakamura a great match to start his NXT career win or lose, but Zayn is familiar with the “Strong Style” and will be able to help him transition.

After several months, WWE will most likely feel that Nakamura is ready to transition to the main roster sooner rather than later. It’s believed that his in-ring history and chemistry with AJ Styles is something WWE wants to capitalize on at some point this summer.
