Bring it back? Pay per views have been around for the better part of forty years now and they are still one of the most important things in all of the wrestling industry. They are where the biggest matches and moments of the year tend to take place and are still shows which are set up far in advance. Having the right name is one of the most important aspects and now WWE is bringing back a classic.

According to Fightful.com, WWE has filed a new trademark for “Bash At The Beach”. This comes after AEW used the trademark last year for a pair of special editions of Dynamite. Cody Rhodes is believed to have dropped the trademarks in exchange for being allowed to use his last name again. There is no word on if WWE will be using the name for a WWE or NXT event.

Who did it better? Check out various editions of Bash At The Beach:

Opinion: This is one of those stories that makes me smile a bit as there is no reason to have such basic and at times pitiful names for pay per views. There are some great names out there and if WWE can go pick one up for basically nothing, why not go use a previous idea and see what you can get out of it instead of having some other bad name? This works as well as anything else, so go with what makes sense.

The other interesting detail in the whole situation is having AEW give up the trademarks in the first place. It is not some major scandal or story or anything close to it, but the idea that the two companies may be making agreements for something like this. If nothing else, it shows you how important a good name is for a pay per view or a wrestler, as they are willing to make such deals between two sides that don’t seem to like each other.

What do you think of the name? Where should it be used? Let us know in the comments below.
