You need a Plan A and a Plan B. Over the last few months, Roman Reigns has become the top star in WWE, although not in quite the same way that WWE had been planning for the last few years. Reigns is now over as a complete monster villain and that seems like it is going to be the case for a long time to come. However, we are only a few months away from WrestleMania 37 and that means it is time to start planning things out.
One of the problem with having a monster like Reigns is that you have to find someone who can give him a run for his money. That is not exactly the case on SmackDown at the moment, as the only current serious challengers would be Kevin Owens and Daniel Bryan. Owens is getting the Tables, Ladders And Chairs title shot, but you need someone else for the biggest show of the year. WWE is already going through their options.
According to WrestleTalk, WWE is hoping that the Rock will be Reigns’ challenger for the Universal Title at WrestleMania 37. However, the match would be contingent on both the Coronavirus situation and Rock’s movie schedule. Should Rock not be available, other options are Big E., Goldberg, Daniel Bryan and Drew McIntyre. Goldberg vs. Reigns was planned for WrestleMania 36 but had to be canceled due to Reigns opting out over health concerns. There is no word on if Rock will be taking part in the match.
Reigns is on a roll at the moment. Check out what the new version can do:
Opinion: I’m really not sure what to think of this but some of those names don’t give me the most confidence. For the life of me I don’t get why WWE is so obsessed with Reigns vs. Goldberg and it would be the weakest of the available options. There are a few potentially interesting matches for Reigns, but I’m really not sure if anyone is going to be bought as a believable threat to him at the moment.
