Who are you again? Since WWE is on television/online almost every day of the week, it is common to see them changing things up. That can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on what they are changing, but there are times when some of the things that they shake up don’t go anywhere because you might not notice. One of their latest changes is fairly noticeable, but they do have a reason.
One thing that is taken for granted among wrestling fans but still goes a long way is a ring introduction. In short, it can help to know who these people are. Yes that sounds like a really obvious concept, but not everyone is a longtime viewer of a show. It can be useful to know who someone is in a match, but WWE doesn’t seem to think it’s all that necessary, at least for the moment.
According to Wrestlinginc.com, WWE has stopped having a ring announcer in the ring to handle ring introductions. Now, the only time an announcer will actually introduce a wrestler is during a title match, though this was not the case when AJ Styles defended the Intercontinental Title against Drew Gulak on last week’s SmackDown. There is no word on why the change was made or how long the new rule will last.
WWE has some famous announcers. Check out the best ever:
Opinion: This seems like something that could be done to help keep the numbers down for the sake of the Coronavirus and that’s a good thing. You can have the ring announcing take place from somewhere else and still have the same result. It’s not like there are fans in the arena anymore so just let the commentary handle all of the talking. What difference does it really make at the moment?
