They might want to work on that. Titles are the easiest concept to understand in wrestling, as any fan can get the idea of someone holding a shiny belt. Someone holding a title means that they are the best around and people are coming for you. That can set up some major matches, but now it might be a little while before that happens again with the top title in WWE.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE has yet to make up its mind on when WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns will next defend his title. The company is considering having him defend at either Money In The Bank on July 2 or at Summerslam on July 30. Reigns has been Universal Champion since August 30, 2020 and won the WWE Title from Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 38 in April.
Opinion: I know WWE is enjoying the idea of pushing Reigns as the be all and end all of stars today, but I’m still not feeling this idea of several months with no title defenses. At that point, why bother having him as champion if he isn’t going to be around to defend the title in the first place? It was annoying when Brock Lesnar did it and it’s annoying again now, but WWE seems to really love the idea.
When will Reigns defend next? Who do you want him to face? Let us know in the comments below.
