He’s a draw. There are different ways to draw an audience to a wrestling show and some of them are more unique than others. While one of the most common is to have a big match on the card, there is also the option of bringing in a special attraction that will almost guarantee more people will watch. That is what AEW is attempting next week with a legend from a different sport.

It was announced this week on Rampage that WWE Hall of Famer and former boxing Heavyweight Champion of the World Mike Tyson will be doing commentary on next week’s show. Tyson has dabbled in wrestling over the years, most famously as the guest referee for the main event of WrestleMania 14. He has also made multiple appearances for AEW, most recently in April 2021.

Opinion: This is the kind of appearance that does make sense and should draw some more eyes to the show. It is nice that AEW is trying to make Rampage feel like a bigger deal, though it does come off a bit like they are trying a quick way to pop a rating more than anything else here. Either way, I’ll take that over sitting on the show without doing anything so they’re doing something right.

What do you think of the announcement? How will Tyson do in the role? Let us know in the comments below.
