2015 WWE Hall of Famer Alundra Blayze praises The Fabulous Moolah: March 28, 2015

Historical significance. The Mae Young Classic is one of the most anticipated events of 2017 with 32 female wrestlers competing to become the first champion. The name alone suggests that there will be some history built in and Lita being one of the commentators only enhances this idea. Now though, another legend will be part of the tournament, though not in the actual field.

According to her Instagram, Madusa will be involved in the Mae Young Classic in some capacity. Her exact position hasn’t been announced, though it’s possible she could be an interviewer or host of come kind. Madusa, wrestling under the name Alundra Blayze, was a three time WWF Women’s Champion with a combined 539 days as champion. She was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2015.

Opinion: This is one of those thing that makes the tournament feel more important. If there’s one thing that WWE is great at doing, it’s looking back at its own history and Madusa (or Alundra Blayze) is certainly a major part of the women’s division’s history. It makes things feel big and more historic, which is only going to help this out.

Who else would you like to see brought back for the tournament? What other names would you like to see in the bracket? Let us know in the comments below.
