It happens every now and then. Wrestling is a rather complicated production to put together and something is going to go wrong on occasion. Not only are the wrestlers out there in front of a live television (and usually arena) audience, but they are expected to be having their athletic matches and make them look realistic at the same time. That is a heck of a trick to pull off and every now and then, it might not go as planned. Such a thing happened this week.
There were a lot of things going on with this week’s Monday Night Raw and that made the show a little more exciting than usual. With so many matches and stories taking place, it could be a little difficult to keep track of everything that was going on at once. Apparently that was true of the wrestlers as well, as something happened that was not exactly supposed to take place.
According to Wrestling Observer Live, the finish of the Raw Tag Team Title match between New Day and the Hurt Business was botched. The match was originally supposed to end with the Hurt Business winning by countout, but the referee reached ten first. The referees are told to call the match as they see them rather than going by planned finishes, so the match was a double countout instead. After the mistake, the match was restarted with New Day winning via pinfall.
It was a messy match. Check out how the whole thing went down:
Opinion: This is the kind of thing that is going to happen from time to time, though in this case it didn’t make that much of a difference. The endgame was always going to be New Day retaining the titles and the referee can’t be blamed for the wrestlers not being able to get back inside. It was always going to be a weird way to go, but at least this didn’t shake things up too badly.
