There were reasons. Almost any wrestling promotion is going to have multiple voices coming together to put a show together. At some point some of those voices are going to clash in one way or another though and it can create some issues behind the scenes. That is the case again in NXT, and now we know a bit more about what caused the ordeal in the first place.
Earlier this week, it was announced that QT Marshall was departing AEW by the end of the year. According to WrestlePurists, there has been something of a divide backstage over how AEW should be presented. Marshall was said to be on the side of being more entertainment based as opposed to focusing more on wrestling.
This included Marshall being presented with the QTV stable on Collision, which CM Punk allegedly did not care for, saying he did not see it as a productive part of Powerhouse Hobbs’ development. AEW President Tony Khan attempted to take the blame for QTV being removed but Marshall did not believe him, leading to a fracture between the two.
QTV was something. Check out what they have done:
Opinion: I can see both sides of this, as Marshall was put in a weird spot in AEW. There was only so much that he could do as part of a glorified comedy segment with QTV but Marshall apparently wanted to be more than that. At the same time, I can see what Punk was saying about QTV not helping Hobbs, who was little more than an enforcer to a comedy team. It might be better if Marshall can go do his thing elsewhere, but AEW might be losing quite a bit with everything he does backstage.
What do you think of the situation? Should Marshall have left AEW? Let us know in the comments below.
