Final score? This is one of the biggest wrestling weekends of the year with a lot of wrestling going on all over the place. If you include the NWA Hard Times event on Friday night, you’re looking at four straight days of major wrestling shows, which isn’t something you get to see every week. Saturday night’s event was rather unique and hopefully something that we get to see again in the future.
Saturday night, WWE presented Worlds Collide, a show featuring NXT vs. NXT UK wrestlers in a series of matches. This event was taking place in place of the traditional Royal Rumble weekend Takeover event, with the next Takeover scheduled for three weeks from Sunday instead. Commentary suggested that this will move on to become a regular event, but what happened on the first show?
Worlds Collide consisted of five matches, plus a sixth match on the Kickoff Show. Counting the Kickoff Show match, the final score was three wins apiece, with Kay Lee Ray, Jordan Devlin and Imperium winning for NXT UK, while Finn Balor, DIY and Rhea Ripley won for NXT. The score was not mentioned during the show and there was no prize for the winning side.
The winners were rather pleased. Check out some of their victories:
Opinion: This is the kind of show I could go for every now and then. NXT and NXT UK are both rather entertaining promotions with solid rosters and it’s fun to see them compete every now and then. It doesn’t need to be anything huge or for some important prize, but just let them go out there and have a night of good matches. That’s as entertaining of a show as you can get and this one worked very well.
