Improper barricade usage. Almost no matter where you go, you’re going to see a similar looking arena. You have a ring, steps, a timekeeper’s area and probably a few other things, but in particular there’s a big to keep the fans away from the ring. This wall may be a metal fence but in WWE’s case, it’s a hard wall, normally black (because color coordination is important) and slightly padded. Since this is wrestling, that wall has been used as a weapon more than once, which is as good of an excuse for a countdown as anything else.
I wonder if it’s harder than an apron.
Opinion: I know it’s a little brutal but there’s something satisfying about the thud that you hear when someone goes into the barricade. That thing has to be hard and the impact makes for both a great sound and visual. Anyone can take a bump like that and it’s one of the rare things that almost never gets old. If nothing else there’s always the spear, which is one of the few spots that never gets old period, as the collision alone looks awesome.
