Get your name tag. There are so many wrestlers and names to have come through the doors of WWE over the years and some of them are rather memorable people. It can be nice to see some of those people making some cameo appearances every now and then and WWE seems to like bringing them back. WWE had another special edition of SmackDown this week and a legend was back.
This week’s edition of SmackDown was a special Throwback episode, which featured various looks back at the show’s history. There was also a special cameo on the show, with former General Manager Teddy Long making an appearance. Long appeared before the Cesaro vs. Seth Rollins match to announce that Cesaro would receive a Universal Title match against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania Backlash should he win. He also put together a ten man tag team match for later in the show.
Long served two stints as General Manager of SmackDown over the years for about six years total. During his time as General Manager, Long was known for making tag team matches and ordering that wrestlers face the Undertaker in singles matches. He also served as General Manager of ECW and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as part of the class of 2017.
Long was on a roll this week. Check out his surprise cameo:
Opinion: You could pretty much guarantee that there was going to be some kind of a surprise guest star on the show but the question was who. Long is about as good of a name as you could have chosen, as he is identified with SmackDown and sounds just like he did all those years ago. Having him pop up is a nice little nostalgia trip and that is exactly what they were going for here.
What did you think of Long’s appearance? Who else did you want to see on the show? Let us know in the comments below.
