This looks familiar. One of the most famous moments in the history of professional wrestling is the Barber Shop segment, where Shawn Michaels threw partner Marty Jannetty through a window, breaking up the Rockers for good. It became the gold standard for breaking up a tag team and has been recreated since. Now, it’s being recreated in a slightly nicer fashion.
You might have seen these guys before. Check out New Day’s rendition of the Barber Shop Window:
In honor of Valentine’s Day, New Day has recreated the Barber Shop Window moment, with Kofi Kingston playing Michaels, Xavier Woods as Jannetty and Big E. as host Brutus Beefcake. New Day wears the same clothing as the three involved in the original segment with the original commentary from Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby Heenan playing in the background.
Opinion: Now this is the kind of thing I can go for. It didn’t last long and wasn’t overdone, with Kingston even having some very great visuals on his face while doing the whole thing. It’s a famous moment and while using Valentine’s Day to talk about the Heartbreak Kid is a bit of a stretch, they did it effectively enough that it was a rather nice little rendition. Of course it’s not the original, but it’s not supposed to be.
Which of the three did the best impression? Should New Day break up like this? Let us know in the comments below.
