A reason for the time. This week on SmackDown Live, the six participants in Sunday’s Elimination Chamber match for the WWE Championship took part in a gauntlet match for the right to enter the Chamber last. While there were six people involved in the match, there was one who stood out above the rest by a wide margin. That would be Kofi Kingston, who lasted about an hour. But why was that the case?

According to Ringsidenews.com, Kingston was in the match for so much time because he was the replacement for Mustafa Ali, who would have received the same kind of booking. Ali was scheduled for the match but had to be removed due to a concussion, which will also keep him out of Sunday’s Chamber match. Kingston was eventually eliminated by AJ Styles, who was eliminated by Randy Orton for the win.

Kingston wrestled a lot, but what did he have to say? Check out this great promo from after the match:

How is Kofi Kingston feeling after his gutsy Gauntlet Match performance?: Exclusive, Feb. 12, 2019

Opinion: As a fan of both Ali and Kingston, I’m happy to get to see the latter acting as the replacement, but I really hope that Ali isn’t left behind due to the injury. Such a thing has taken down wrestlers before and hopefully he gets another chance when healthy. I can’t imagine him winning the World Title, but a big time WrestleMania match is certainly in the cards.

Do you like Kingston getting this kind of a push? Who will leave the Chamber with the title? Let us know in the comments below.
