Make sure you grab a name tag. AEW has a rather talented roster with a great mixture of wrestlers. There are veterans and legends, newcomers and rookies and some established names who are still on their way to the top of the industry. That makes for some great matchups and now AEW has brought in another name that you might be familiar with from what he has done before.
During this week’s edition of AEW Dynamite, a vignette aired announcing that Lio Rush has signed a deal with the company. Rush has wrestled in AEW before, appearing at Double Or Nothing 2021, as well as in WWE, where he was the NXT Cruiserweight Champion. Earlier this year, Rush announced his retirement from wrestling, but said that he would be fulfilling his remaining New Japan dates. There is no word on when he will be making his return to AEW.
This was a surprise. Check out Rush’s announcement, plus what he can do in the ring:
Opinion: I’m not quite surprised that Rush wound up signing with a major promotion again so soon. He is in his mid 20s, has a lot of ability and would be able to go just about anywhere other than WWE. I know he is into his music, but getting back in the ring is not going to be an option that is around forever. I’m glad that Rush is back though, as he really is worth a look when he is on his game.
What did you think of the announcement? What should Rush do in AEW? Let us know in the comments below.
