It’s a long time coming. The battle between AEW and WWE has been going on for the last several months and it is likely to continue for several years in the future. While AEW has come a long way in a very short time, they still have a lot of things to accomplish, including setting up a few things that they have never done before. One such thing will be accomplished later this month.
Last year, Cody began to buy up several copyrights that WWE had let lapse after its purchase of WCW. Several of these were matches and shows that Cody’s father Dusty Rhodes had invented and Cody said that he wanted to keep them in the family. That didn’t mean he would let them sit on a shelf though as AEW has already held a Bash at the Beach event. Now, they will be holding another one and it might gain some attention.
During Saturday night’s Revolution pay per view, a video announcement aired, showing that AEW will be presenting a special edition of Dynamite called Blood and Guts on March 25. The show will feature a two ring cage match, with the phrase “this means war” included. One of the copyrights that Cody purchased was WarGames, which was invented by Rhodes and first used in 1988. WWE has run their own version in NXT for the last three years.
It sounds awesome. Check out the big announcement:
Opinion: This is something that a lot of fans have been wanting to see for a very long time and I can’t blame them a bit. WarGames is something that works a lot better with the extra violence and that is something AEW can offer. They know how to do something like this and with some luck, we could be in for a heck of a show with some incredible violence, which is the entire point of something like WarGames.
