Maybe next year? One of the biggest wrestling stories of the week was the announcement of the next three WrestleManias, including this year’s WrestleMania 37 being spread over two nights. This makes things a little more interesting in that it reshapes WrestleMania weekend, but it also raises a few questions. Now we have the answer to one of the more interesting ones.
There are a lot of things that go into WrestleMania weekend as there is a lot more to the few days than just the show itself. In addition to several television shows and an NXT Takeover, the Hall of Fame ceremony is held as well. That was not the case last year due to the Coronavirus pandemic and the class of 2020 has yet to be inducted. There is an update on that situation and things could be remedied.
According to Wrestling Observer Radio, the current plan is to hold a Hall of Fame induction ceremony over WrestleMania 37 weekend, but it will be a virtual ceremony. There will be no fans in attendance and the inductees will likely not be in person. The class of 2020 includes the Bella Twins, Batista, the NWO, Davey Boy Smith, John Bradshaw Layfield, and Jushin Thunder Liger. There is no word on ift here will be a 2021 class induction.
Opinion: This is about all that can be done as you can only have so many people in person for anything at the moment. It is nice to have fans there for an induction ceremony, but it is the kind of thing that can be done just as well without some big event. Do what makes sense here and let the people have their moment, even if it is taking place from their homes instead.
