RIP. After being rumored earlier in the week, WWE has officially canceled “Superstars” effective immediately. According to PWInsider.com, the show has been canceled and replaced with “Main Event”, which will move over from the “Smackdown Live” tapings and be replaced by “205 Live”.

“Superstars” debuted back in April 2009 on WGN America and was treated as a big deal at first (with Undertaker in the main event of the first show) before being turned into an online exclusive about two years later. The show has become little more than an hour of dark matches and wasn’t the highest on WWE’s priority list. “Superstars” ran for 398 episodes.

Yeah there’s really no surprise here. I didn’t see the point in having “Superstars” and “Main Event” both existing as you could easily replace one with the other and have almost no change. “205 Live” actually serves a unique purpose and one recap show is more than enough. This is the right move and can give the live audience something a little more fun.
