Stick around a bit. There are so many wrestlers who have been part of WWE over the years and that can make for some great surprises if someone might come back. You never know how long you might go without seeing someone, which can be even better if it is someone who was popular before leaving. That was the case this week and the returning name might be sticking around for a bit.
One of the interesting things to see is what happens when someone leaves WWE and goes elsewhere with some success. Some people are able to have a rather successful career outside of the company and grow into someone that WWE might want back. It might not even be as a wrestler anymore, which was the case with a surprise return that took place this week.
Wade Barrett returned to WWE television this week as a broadcaster on NXT. There was no indication that it would be any more than a one off appearance, but later in the show Barrett said that he would be back for another week. This came after the announcement of the NXT Title match that will take place on next week’s show, which Barrett said he needed to come back to see. It is not clear how long Barrett will be doing NXT commentary or when/if Mauro Ranallo will return to the show.
Barrett felt at home. Check out how he got ready for the show and some of his work this week:
Opinion: Works for me. Barrett has a good voice and a resume to back it up, which was mentioned on commentary. They did a good job of making Barrett seem like an important deal without making him seem too important. Barrett was a part of the show instead of a star and that’s something guest commentators can get wrong at times. This worked well and it was a good performance, which made me want to hear more. Nice job.
What did you think of Barrett? Who should be the full time NXT commentary team? Let us know in the comments below.
