Welcome back? Commentators are some of the most important parts of a wrestling show as they serve as the viewers’ guides. They tell you what is going on, where things are going, and tell the stories that the companies want. That makes the choices for commentators one critical decisions a company can make. A major company had to make a change in recent weeks but that change is coming to an end.
Modern wrestling has offered wrestling fans a lot of benefits, including the ability to watch almost anything they want. These days, wrestling is saved online and a fan can find every show they choose. At the same time though, this isn’t the best situation every now and then as you can see some things that are not as well remembered. That is the case with certain promos, one of which got an AEW personality in trouble.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Excalibur is expected to return to the AEW commentary team during the August 26 edition of Dynamite. This comes after he has missed the last three editions of both Dynamite and Dark. Though no explanation has been given from AEW, the absence came after a video of Excalibur using racial slurs in an in-character promo from Pro Wrestling Guerrilla emerged.
Excalibur has been around for a long time. Check out what he offers to AEW:
Opinion: I’m not the biggest Excalibur fan in the world but I also don’t think he should have been fired over this. It was something that had been said in public before and it was his character saying it rather than him. At the same time, it isn’t something that AEW could let go, as it is hardly something that can be ignored given the current (or anytime for that matter) situations.
