Not so fast? Dean Ambrose has been in a weird place over the last few weeks. After WWE officially announced that he’s going to be leaving WWE around WrestleMania 35, it’s become clear that he’s doing a few things differently than he was before. One of these odd things was what seemed to be a feud with Nia Jax, which actually looked to be setting up a match. But maybe not.
According to Post Wrestling, WWE has reached out to them and said that the match will not be taking place, though it was originally in the cards. WWE stated that the announcement for the match, which aired locally, is out of date and the match is now canceled. According to Ringsidenews.com, there is a chance that the match was canceled due to a complaint from an unspecified sponsor who didn’t want to be associated with an intergender match.
It was certainly set up. Check out how the build for the match came to pass:
Opinion: I can’t say I’m surprised at this as any form of man vs. woman wrestling is going to get some negative attention. Some sponsors aren’t going to be ok with that and at the end of the day, whoever controls the money controls what happens on the show. If one sponsor bails out, it’s likely a matter of time before even more do and it’s not worth it to WWE, especially if Ambrose is leaving in two months.
