An injury can be a scary thing. While wrestling is certainly predetermined, that doesn’t mean it’s fake by any means. Wrestlers go out there and put their bodies on the line every single night. Some spots are much safer than others, but there are moves that are called high risk for a reason. Something that has been done dozens of times only has to go wrong once to cause a bad situation, which seems to have been the case recently.

According to Wrestlinginc.com, Fenix was injured at an AAW show Friday night in Austin, Texas. During a tag match, Fenix attempted a springboard cutter but landed badly and couldn’t get up. He was taken to a medical facility for observation and, according to the AAW Twitter account, was treated for a muscle contusion and released. Fenix will miss a few weeks of action due to the injury.

Fenix is scary good when he’s healthy. Check out some highlights from a recent tag match on Impact Wrestling:

Opinion: This is the kind of thing where you never know how it’s going to wind up but at least things seem to be ok. Fenix missing a few weeks of action isn’t good but it’s a far cry from having his entire career ended in the span of a single move. He’s still young and has a lot of potential to realize so sitting on the sidelines for a bit is an acceptable loss, especially when you consider how worse it could have been.
