It’s not a good sign when your boss says no. Last night at UFC 225, CM Punk went to a decision loss against Mike Jackson in his second career mixed martial arts fight. This was Punk’s second career loss and while he did survive far longer than he did in his first fight, which lasted 2:14, it still wasn’t the prettiest thing in the world. Punk was dominated throughout most of the fight and the fans weren’t the only ones who noticed.

According to ESPN.com, UFC President Dana White wasn’t impressed by Punk’s second performance in the organization. After the fight, White was asked about Punk’s performance and made it clear that he thought it was time for Punk to try something else. White did offer Punk praise on a few fronts, but overall he felt that it was time for Punk to call it a career. Here’s what White had to say:

“It probably should be a wrap. The guy is 39 years old. I love the guy. He’s the nicest guy in the world. We gave him two shots, and he had a lot of heart tonight in this fight. And I think he should call it a wrap.”

Here’s what Punk’s opponent had to say about the fight.

UFC 225: Mike Jackson - "You Have to Give Him Respect for His Willingness to Jump in that Cage"

Opinion: I can’t say I disagree with White. Punk was fighting from behind the second he started in MMA. He was in his late thirties, had a fifteen year wrestling career that caused him a variety of injuries coming in, and he was trying a brand new sport against people nearly half his age who had been training for years. There was almost no way this was going to be a success outside of a miracle but Punk went out there and tried. Just to make it to the end of a fight says a lot and that’s impressive enough.

Do you think Punk will fight again? Should he fight again? Let us know in the comments below.
